Introducing The Fibro Blog Follies - A Carnival of Hope for FMS/CFIDS Patients and Loved Ones

I’m proud to announce that beginning on Monday, September 17, 2007, The Fibro Follies will host the Fibro Blog Follies - a Carnival of Hope for FMS & CFIDS patients, and their loved ones.

If you’re not familiar with a blog carnival, here’s a good description from Wikipedia:

A blog carnival is a type of blog event. It is similar to a magazine, in that it is dedicated to a particular topic, and is published on a regular schedule, often weekly or monthly. Each edition of a blog carnival is in the form of a blog article that contains permalinks links to other blog articles on the particular topic. There are many variations, but typically, someone who wants to organize a carnival posts details of the theme or topic to their blog, and asks readers to submit relevant articles for inclusion in an upcoming edition. The host then collects links to these submissions, edits and annotates them (often in very creative ways), and publishes the resulting round-up to his or her blog.

More on the rules for the carnival after the jump . . .

To be considered for the Blog Follies, a blog post must meet the following criteria:

  • Be relevant to the blog’s theme of fibromyalgia, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, or other autoimmune or rheumatologically-associated illnesses, or to treatment, coping, or medical measures related to those topics. Posts will also be accepted if they concern the personal experience of those with these or related conditions, or of friends, coworkers, associates, loved ones, or treatment providers of people with these or related conditions.
  • Be free of profanity, defamatory material, copyright violations, or material or content designed (in the view of the organizer - that’s me, Jane) to harass, intimidate, or offend others on the grounds of race, religion, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, language, national origin or any ground protected by law.

Posts should be well-written, properly formatted (i.e., traditional rules of capitalization and grammar), and have a unique “voice.” We’re looking for really good writing that speaks to the fibro experience - the best the web has to offer - whether that’s one post a week or dozens.

To submit your own post or any post you happen to come across on the web, click here and fill out the form. That’s it! Couldn’t be easier. Each week, I’ll select the best out of the submissions, add any additional posts I might have found at other sites, and put it all together for your convenience. One-stop shopping for fibro blogging! What a concept.

So polish up your prose! We’ll kick it off with our inaugural issue on Monday, September 17, 2007, right here at The Fibro Follies.

  1. Hey deb! Thanks for visiting! We’ll try again next week - there was some problem with the submission form. So send ‘em on! And thanks so much for stopping by.

  2. I just discovered your blog. I’ll share it with another fibro blogger friend of mine as well-I’m sure we can all support each other. Would you like me to provide a link on my blog to your articles? Sorry I missed your carnival, maybe next time! Be well!

  3. For the first few issues, I’ll take older posts. After we get going, I hope to focus on posts that came out in the intervening time period. Also, it may be that we don’t have it every week, depending on how many submissions we get.

    So glad Sarakastic’s playing!

  4. I’m definitely in, do you want the posts to be new or can they be older?
